Synopsis

This book examines the complex interrelationship between human rights, international humanitarian law (IHL), human security, and operational law in the context of the Colombian armed conflict. Throughout its chapters, the work analyzes how these conceptual and legal frameworks intertwine to address the challenges of protecting victims, promoting peace, and building a more just and equitable society in Colombia.
The text begins by exploring the origins and evolution of human rights and IHL, highlighting their relevance in the Colombian conflict scenario. It then examines the concept of human security and its application in conflict resolution and sustainable development strategies. Operational law is analyzed as a fundamental framework for regulating the actions of public forces in the context of conflict.
Through concrete case studies, such as the 2016 Peace Agreement and human security projects in affected areas, the book illustrates how the integration of these concepts can have a positive impact on the lives of victims and peacebuilding. It also addresses the persistent challenges in the effective implementation of these frameworks, such as ongoing violence and institutional weakness in certain regions.
The book concludes that the interrelationship between human rights, IHL, human security, and operational law is essential for addressing the complex challenges of the Colombian armed conflict. It emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach that combines these concepts to protect victims, promote peace, and build a more equitable society, highlighting the crucial role of the Military Forces in this process.
