Conceptualización del ciberespacio humano

El ingenio y voluntad están detrás de todas nuestras creaciones. Encontramos soluciones a obstáculos o necesidades de la cotidianidad, incluso desconociendo las consecuencias de su empleo. Ya nos ha ocurrido con la dinamita y la tecnología nuclear, y ahora sucede con el ciberespacio. El ciberespacio es hasta el momento el único dominio creado por nuestra especie, lo cual resulta sumamente paradójico, considerando que la gran mayoría lo emplea diariamente sin entender su conformación ni las implicaciones en la vida cotidiana. Peor aún, justificamos este desconocimiento al afirmar que este dominio solo atañe a unos pocos que conocen el lenguaje de las computadoras, sin detenernos a pensar que con tener un teléfono celular ya se forma parte del ciberespacio.

Este libro nace como respuesta a esta deficiencia de conocimiento en los usuarios del ciberespacio, pero se desliga de las aproximaciones tradicionales y técnicas para concentrarse en el factor del comportamiento humano en sociedad. Se encuentra dividida en cuatro capítulos: el primero desarrolla el concepto del ciberespacio; el segundo, los actores que en este interactúan y sus motivaciones; el tercero, el concepto de poder, y el último, la sorpresa como un elemento potenciador. Para plantear el argumento se empleó una premisa: mientras las tecnologías de inteligencia artificial no sean realmente eficientes, al final siempre habrá una persona detrás de cada código, plataforma, red, sistema o máquina. Si esto es cierto, el ciberespacio es, indiscutiblemente, un entorno humano que nos atañe a todos y, solo por eso, esta lectura bien vale la pena.

Abstract.

Ingenuity and willpower are behind all our creations. We find solutions to everyday obstacles or needs, even when we are unaware of the consequences of their use. It has already happened with dynamite and nuclear technology, and now it is happening with cyberspace. Cyberspace is so far the only domain created by our species, which is extremely paradoxical, considering that the vast majority use it on a daily basis without understanding its conformation or the implications in everyday life. Worse still, we justify this lack of knowledge by stating that this domain only concerns a few who know the language of computers, without stopping to think that by having a cell phone you are already part of cyberspace.

This book is born as a response to this deficiency of knowledge in the users of cyberspace, but it is detached from the traditional and technical approaches to concentrate on the factor of human behavior in society. It is divided into four chapters: the first develops the concept of cyberspace; the second, the actors who interact in it and their motivations; the third, the concept of power; and the last, surprise as an empowering element. To make the argument, a premise was used: as long as artificial intelligence technologies are not really efficient, in the end there will always be a person behind every code, platform, network, system or machine. If this is true, cyberspace is, indisputably, a human environment that concerns us all and, for that reason alone, this is well worth reading.
